What I need to do
In this role you will be using methodological Data Science techniques to create, select and tune algorithms in a business relevant way. This will start with understanding the operational needs of the business and translating these needs into mathematical models and solutions. You will work on multiple projects to solve business problems but will also conduct deep data exploration to find golden nuggets of opportunity. You will be given the autonomy (and will be strongly encouraged) to adopt different data science techniques and technologies to every project you work on, and will come up with interesting and innovative ways to communicate your results and recommendations to help influence business and cultural transformation.With your highly developed interpersonal skills you will be have no problem contextualizing and translating problems and solutions to a wide variety of interested parties finding common ground, skilful listening and effective storytelling.
What I need to know
We are looking for people who can demonstrate the following:A quantitative advanced degree preferred (e.g. statistics, math, science, computer science, engineering)Proficient with SQL and the ability to profile and transform relational data structuresPractical experience delivering several examples of innovative, data driven solutions on large or complex data setsMust be proficient with Python/R and Data Science stack (e.g. pandas, matplotlib, data.table, dplyr, etc)Familiar with project management methodologies such as Agile and/or KanbanFamiliar with software engineering techniques including version control, build automation, testing, etc. You will have proven industry/management consulting experience, with recognised success in data science delivery. As well as your ability to design and code data science experiments and algorithms, key to your success will be your insatiable curiosity (as well as a healthy amount of scepticism!).
